About Nico Silva
Nicolas Daniel Silva, LMSW, MS, "Nico" is an interdisciplinary artist, scientist, and researcher with extensive experience in grant writing, consulting, and project development. His work spans small local businesses, start-ups, multi-million-dollar federal grants, and multinational corporations.
Currently, Nico serves as a Society for Neuroscience NSP Scholar, New York University Steinhardt Faculty First Look Scholar, Climate Fellow with the City of El Paso, and Ph.D. Research and Teaching Associate in the College of Health Sciences. His upcoming co-written book chapter in the anthology, Fashioning the Borderlands, adds to his diverse academic contributions.
Nico holds a BS in Microbiology with a concentration in Neuroscience, a Master of Social Work, a Master of Biological Sciences and Women’s and Gender Studies, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). His research focuses on music and sound as interventions for mental health symptom alleviation in the Mexican-origin young adult community.
